Karnataka to declare cyber security, data centre policy soon, says IT minister CN Ashwath NarayanKarnataka will soon come with policy on cyber security and data centre, IT/BT & Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said on Tuesday. The policy is expected in about two months.

The government is promoting innovation within Karnataka and beyond, the minister said speaking at the Indian Innovation Summit organised by CII in Bengaluru. The state, he added, has become part of the emerging technologies in IT & IT services in the world.

The government had been updating policies every five years and planning infrastructure development based on the suggestion, Ashwath Narayan said.

The Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, the minister said, would transform the lives of people.

EV Ramana Reddy, additional chief secretary, IT/BT & Industries department, said the government’s policies have encouraged startups in a big way.

The government, Reddy said, has set up eight centres of excellence to encourage the growth of technology including robotics, data science, aerospace, and defence, to name a few. The government, he added, was providing the enabling platform for encouraging partnership with the industry.

Infosys, co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan, also CII’s past president, urged CII members to leverage technology. “If the industry has not yet begun working with startups, the time was ripe now to do so now,” he added.

CII southern region chairman CK Ranganath urged members to pursue innovation with determination without fearing failure. Failure, he added, was the foundation of innovation.
